Simple Home Improvements You Can Do While SIP

With the COVID19 pandemic, a lot of us have suddenly found ourselves spending a lot more time at home. While this is a good thing since we can help flatten the curve and get to spend more time with our families and loved ones, we can also get a little cabin fever sometimes. Combat this by finally tackling some of those projects you’ve always wanted to do! Here are a few home improvements you can do while sheltering in place.

Give Your Yard a Makeover

You can up your home’s curb appeal and get a little outdoor time by sprucing up your yard. Thankfully, a lot of Marin gardening businesses are still delivering garden supplies and plants without the need to go out. Plant spring flowers, paint the fence, and do a little landscaping.

Revamp Your Kitchen

Since you will most likely be spending a lot more time in your kitchen making home cooked meals, consider adding a little pop of color. Give your shelves or cabinets a fresh coat of paint to give your kitchen a fresh new look without hurting your budget. Consider changing up the hardware on the drawers, or update the walls to paint or wallpaper.

Consider an Accent Wall

An accent wall is a sure fire way to bring a pop of color to an otherwise uniform space. Use bright, bold colors to make things pop, but just make sure it’s something that nicely coordinates or complements the rest of the room.

Plant a Sustainable Garden

If there’s one thing that this pandemic has taught us, it is that a little urban gardening can go a long way towards helping us live more sustainable lives. Having plants that not only bring color to your gardens but also flavor to your tables is a fun way to practice your green thumb. You can try hydroponic gardening and plant some herbs, or green leafy vegetables like lettuce.

Define Your Workspaces

If you’re working from home or homeschooling your kids, making sure that there’s a defined space where you can focus and keep things clutter-free. Create an alcove or utilize that extra room and add wall pockets or shelves where you can store files and papers. Place a desk where you can work and make sure to only keep essential items on it to avoid distractions.
