Join the Greenbelt Alliance on an autumn saunter through Tennessee Valley on one of the Bay Area’s iconic trails. Not too many years ago, this natural landscape nearly succumbed to a sprawl development named Marincello. But long before that, the valley was known as Elk Valley, and the beach at the end of the trail was called Indian Cove. Then came that fateful day in 1853. There lies the tale of the wreck of the SS Tennessee, her fool-hardy captain, half-crazed doctor, chest of gold, and missing “keyhole” in the cliff. Spend an adventurous afternoon in this moderate hike of 4 miles on a mostly level trail.
