Dying While Black and Brown

Come around Bolinas Community Center and witness a contemporary dance performance by Zaccho Dance Theatre. This thought-provoking thirty minute contemporary dance performance was commissioned by Oakland’s Equal Justice Society in 2011, and created in response to their campaign to restore 14th Amendment protections for victims of discrimination. This includes those on death row, where there is a disproportionate number of African Americans and people of color. The work is even more powerful today as California moves toward abolishing the death penalty. This program is presented as part the Bolinas Museum exhibtion FOCUS: Joanna Haigood + Wayne Campbell. A community discussion with the artists and experts in the field follows.

Rolling for Meals is a friendly bocce tournament that raises money for the Curry Senior Center Dining Room. Join them this weekend at the Marin Bocce Federation for a day of fun, games, raffle prizes, and food! The Curry Dining Room is not just a place to come and get a nutritious meal (provided by Project Open Hand) but also a place to find community. Many of the seniors who come to the Dining Room live by themselves and are isolated from friends and family. The opportunity to socialize with volunteers, staff and each other can help with feelings of isolation and loneliness.

Bike Index Gravel Ride

Come celebrate gravel cycling with the Bike Index crew! There will be two self-guided courses with lots of bail out options. All routes will begin with a classic gravel fireroad climb out of Mill Valley to West Point Inn. Long course will continue up to East Peak and through Laurel Dell while short course will head across to Pantoll and back down the road to Mill Valley. After Laurel Dell, will hit the road down to Pantoll Ranger station where the long ride will head down a challenging, but rewarding descent of the Coastal Trail to Muir Beach. From Muir, climb Diaz Ridge and ultimately drop back down into Mill Valley.
