San Geronimo Valley Historical Society Presents: Grammy-winner Evan Price

Have an intimate evening with Grammmy award winning jazz violinist Evan Price as he graces the living room space in a historic home in the Woodacre flats! Best known for his work with The Turtle Island Quartet and The Hot Club of San Francisco, he studied violin performance and music theory at The Cleveland Institute of Music and holds a BM in violin performance from the Berklee College of Music. An accomplished player of various non-classical genres, Evan paid early dues as a contest fiddler, winning first place in the 18 and under division of the Canadian Old-Time Fiddle Championship, at the U.S. Scottish Fiddling Championship, and the Kentucky State Fiddling Championship. He also performed with many of his fiddling heroes including Stephane Grappelli, Vassar Clements, and Johnny Gimble. After joining the TIQ in 1997, he spent ten years touring extensively in North America and Europe and recording five acclaimed CD’s with the group, two of which received GRAMMY® awards.

Hike and Hit 11

Join the eleventh edition of Hike and Hit and visit a very popular location in the Bay Area, Mt. Tam! You will be doing a moderate loop starting at the Dipsea Trailhead and then connecting with the Steep Ravine Trail and then back down the Matt Davis Trail. The loop is approximately 7-8 miles and offers a variety of views. Hike and Hit was established in 2019 by 3 individuals (Brett, Jose, Nate) to share their love for the outdoors and fitness with others by offering guided hikes in serene locations with a tailored workout that includes martial arts/functional training. For this edition, this donation based service’s proceeds will go to the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services.

Join the Lo Watters as they hit the stage at Smiley’s Schooner Saloon this weekend! Formed in the fall of 2014, Ethan Okamura, Steve Trivelpiece, and Jason Loeks almost immediately started performing intimate shows near their home in Northern California. In the summer of 2015 they recorded their debut album live at Skywalker Sound. The album was voted by the Marin Independent Journal as one of the top 10 local albums of 2016. Their sound ranges from the high lonesome twang to the low down dirty roots and is inspired by classic Americana singer songwriters while still retaining a unique sound all of its own.

Cosponsored by Bolinas-Stinson Beach School Foundation with support from Parkside Cafe and Smiley’s Schooner Saloon, this family-friendly 2-mile walk-trot-run is a popular post-Thanksgiving tradition! Racers will begin at the Bolinas Museum, wind uphill through eucalyptus trees and open fields, pass by breathtaking coastal views, and through the heart of downtown, before ending back at the Museum where prizes are awarded, and Parkside donuts, lemonade, and Smiley’s Schooner Saloon Bloody Mary’s will be waiting!
